The short version
These ranges come from the jobs we've posted, not from a survey, so the sample is small and it grows every week. Use them to sanity-check an offer, then ask about the parts that change the total: overtime, per diem, and how long the job runs.
Pay by role, from our postings
- QA/QC & inspection: $60–70/hr, from 1 posting
- QA/QC & inspection: $130k–200k/yr, from 1 posting
- Commissioning: $128k–151k/yr, from 1 posting
- Trades: $100k–150k/yr, from 1 posting
Hourly and salaried roles are shown separately. Contract roles through staffing firms are usually hourly; GC and owner's-rep roles are more often salaried.
The parts of an offer that change the total
Overtime. Ask whether overtime starts after 40 hours a week or after 8 a day, and what the normal schedule is during commissioning. A job that runs six tens most of the year pays very differently from a straight 40.
Per diem. Ask the daily amount, whether it's paid seven days a week or only days worked, and whether it's paid on days you miss. On a W-2 job, per diem is usually tax-free only when you keep a home elsewhere and the assignment is expected to last a year or less. The IRS explains the one-year rule in Publication 463. This isn't tax advice; check with a tax preparer.
Mob and demob. Ask whether travel to and from the job is paid, both ways.
W-2 or 1099. A 1099 rate looks higher because you pay both halves of payroll tax and your own insurance.
